Community “Season Best” Autumn & Holiday Award Winners!

In our 4th Quarter newsletter, we are announcing our last two Community “Season Best” Award winners for 2016, with sponsorship from Calloway’s.

Our Season’s Best Autumn (October) 2016 Award goes to Mike Richards & Debra Maitre at 3908 Boulton Court.

As of October, this landscape had transitioned from sun to shade as the lovely trees have matured.season-best-award-mike-n-debra-398-boulton-ct-autumn-2016-1

The entrance is framed with two beautiful Japanese Maples and the beds contain many shade-loving plants including ferns, hostas and hydrangeas. Stone is used for accent and interest—well-placed boulders and also a flagstone sitting area. Colorful annuals are used to highlight the front door and large pots of annuals make the sitting area very inviting.

Thanks to this Mike & Debra for their efforts that are a gift to us all. Even if you missed the opportunity to pass by their home in person while they had delightful Fall/Halloween decorations on display, you are still encouraged to swing by to enjoy their lush landscape.

Our Season’s Best Holiday (December) 2016 Award goes to Chris & Jane Hutzler at 3700 Gwinn Court.

season-best-award-chris-n-jane-3700-guinn-ct-holiday-2016-1Our holiday award combines recognition of a beautiful landscape highlighted with festive holiday decorations. This yard is a great example of using drought tolerant plants, adjusting to the shade of mature trees and seeking low maintenance while still having an interesting landscape.

The shadiest areas make use of Japanese Maple, wood ferns, holly ferns and river rock. Closer to the street there are Savannah hollies, pink muhly grasses, more stone and a big boulder.

The landscape serves to provide a lush green “frame” for the focal point–the beautiful front door highlighted right now by gorgeous decorations. The three stars up above are so fun as are the large ornaments hanging from the mature live oak.

Thanks to the Chris & Jane for their efforts that are all residents in our neighborhood can enjoy. You are encouraged to try to visit this home in person before the decorations are taken down, as the pictures can’t quite capture the whimsical effect of the lovely holiday decorations.

You are invited to visit our EFC website Photo Gallery to see more pictures of these two award winner’s homes.

Thank you to Calloway’s for sponsoring our “Season Best” awards and providing a gift card for our award winners Mike & Debra (Autumn/October) and Chris & Jane (Holiday/December).
