It seems that Spring may have sprung, but I distinctly remember ice in April, so you just never know. Regardless we have had some beautiful days this Winter —“Chamber of Commerce” weather as they say.
CitiTurf installed pansies at our Hearst Castle Way entrance from Coit Road and the ones in the median are looking lovely, while the pansies in the north and south beds apparently kept the risk-averse rabbits well fed. Those beds have been replanted with ageratum and (optimistically) surrounded with red chili flakes. We’ll see…
CitiTurf also installed three new bed areas in the median between White Castle Lane and Ludwig Castle. The ends of the median have Oakleaf Hydrangea and giant Liriope—appropriate for the heavy shade of mature trees. In the center of the median we added a crepe myrtle, ground cover and a large perennial bed in the open sun area between the crepe myrtles. This should provide some beautiful color in the growing season.
My thanks to John Caldwell for working with the City of Plano and of course for his endless efforts to keep the sprinkler system functioning in all the common areas of neighborhood —a critical and difficult job. Thank you John!
There is still much to more to be done:
- We still plan to beautify our Estates of Forest Creek (EFC) community’s signature bridge on Hearst Castle Way. We continue to work with the City of Plano traffic engineer to approve our plans for planters on the concrete center of the bridge.
- The end of the median at Breakers Way needs a completely updated landscape bed and we still have several areas of turf and/or groundcover that need “beautification”. We are continuing to work these plans.
Thank you to all that are supporting our 2017 Homeowners Association (HOA) membership — YOUR dues are making it possible for us to make significant improvements to our Hearst Castle Way medians and entrance from Coit Road.
For those interested, several additional landscape improvement pictures can be found by scrolling through our website Photo Gallery.
If you haven’t already, please Join/Renew your 2017 HOA membership today. It only takes a few minutes and requires just a nominal annual fee. This financial support is absolutely critical to maintaining and further improving the beauty of our community.
Open invitation to all EFC HOA members: Get your landscapes ready! The Spring “Season’s Best” Award is coming. Judging will be the last week in April. You must be a dues paying member to be considered. We will present the award—a sign in your yard for a month and a Calloways gift card—the second week in May. Thanks to all who make the effort to keep our neighborhood looking welcoming and beautiful.
We’ll keep working and greatly appreciate the support from each and every one of you!
