We have all been favored with cooler than normal temperatures and wetter than normal rainfall, filling out nearby lakes with much needed water, easing outside watering restrictions, and significantly enhancing the beauty of our EFC community.
The extra rain has helped our new landscaping along the important Hearst Castle Way median establish itself. As you know, we have a long-term Beautification plan to continue updating our landscaping with drought tolerant plants and trees that includes adding greenery along the Coit Road retaining wall. Aside from the hot weather, budget constraints play a primary role in setting the pace of improvements, so increasing HOA membership from our community is very important.
Our 2015 Membership Drive is in high gear as we get closer to the end of our drive, thanks to the efforts of our Block Captains and Membership Director Frank Cassara. A special thanks to all our residents who have already submitted their 2015 dues. While we are a voluntary HOA, all residents of EFC share a common social obligation to support our community. If you haven’t paid your dues, please do at your earliest convenience – it only takes a few minutes by clicking here. We need your help so we may continue the improvements planned for our community!
A shout-out thank you to all EFC residents that found time to participate in and to the HOA Board members that helped support our two recent 2nd Quarter EFC HOA-sponsored social events. Attendees provided very positive feedback, indicating they enjoyed themselves and look forward to the similar activities we have planned in the Fall.
For more highlights of each of these two recent events, please see the separate newsletter articles for our entire family oriented “International Spring Fling“ held on the Tidewater Drive cul-de-sac and our adult oriented “Meet & Greet“ gathering at Robin & John Caldwell’s home.
For the recent 4th of July celebration, thanks to the City of Plano for helping decorate our Hearst Castle entrance with American Flags and to our HOA Board for adding the holiday spirit to our Hearst Castle bridge.
In just four months on November 10th, we will have our next annual HOA Board elections. Several of the current Board members are planning to retire, so there will be openings for other EFC residents to fill these important community service positions. This presents an opportunity for each and every one of you!!
Each EFC HOA Board member plays a pivotal role in ensuring we continue to maintain and better yet, further improve the quality of the common amenities, services and activities available to all residents in our community. FYI, the current 8 Board positions are listed here.
For my part, HOA Board participation has been personally very gratifying. It has allowed me to meet wonderful people, make great long-lasting friendships and receive a great deal of pleasure in serving our community.
Besides the HOA Board position openings, we need more in our neighborhood to be actively involved in supporting the entire EFC community in a number of other areas, such as:
- Volunteer to assist managing our Social Media, Website & electronic communication activity – note we are considering creating a new HOA Board member Director position to lead this activity next year (Social Media & IT experience is a definite plus!)
- Volunteer to be a Zone/Block Captain to provide even closer assistance to your nearby neighbors
- Volunteer to be an active Social or Service Committee chairperson or participant,
- Volunteer to help with the planning and execution of one or more of our HOA-sponsored events held throughout the year, i.e., the October 11th EFC Fall Festival / National Night Out.
If you can carve out a little spare time, have a passion for helping others and want to help improve the quality of life for your EFC neighbors, PLEASE consider volunteering.
To express your interest in any of these volunteer positions, simply contact any HOA Board member, OR conveniently use the“Questions / Comments” link under “Contact Us” at the top of each web page.
Looking forward, you will see in the recent website Neighborhood News postings and our July 2015 newsletter, that you are invited to “Save The Date” for several enticing EFC community activities this Fall. We suggest you mark you calendars now, as these all present wonderful opportunities for you to get further engaged with your EFC neighbors and HOA Board members. As we get closer to these, be sure to keep an eye on the website Calendar & Neighborhood News pages for updates.
In closing, from all of us on the Board, we hope you enjoy a wonderful summer with your families!
Jack Gary, EFC HOA President
