Situated at the end of the Madewood Lane cul-de-sac, this front yard is definitely worth at least a quick peek to simply find a little comfort, enjoyment and inspiration.
Despite the heat, the Ryan’s landscape looks lush and inviting – with beautiful summer annuals to highlight the front door and the very welcoming porch.
Mature oak trees shade the house which is wonderful, but this also presents a challenge.
This yard is a great example of how to garden in the shade. Using Japanese maples, ferns, hydrangeas, yews, dwarf mondo, etc along with stone, they have created a lovely garden that is lush and full despite the shade.
Many of us will face more shade as our trees mature and the Ryan home is an encouragement to go ahead and transition to shade loving plants—still beautiful and with perhaps the bonus of a little less maintenance as well.
Thank you to Calloway’s for sponsoring our “Season’s Best” award and providing a gift card in appreciation to the Ryan’s.
Our next award is planned to be selected in early October.
Award eligibility is open to any current 2016 dues paying member of the Estates of Forest Creek Homeowners Association (EFC HOA). Any and all EFC residents are encouraged to submit nominations to one of your HOA Board members, or via our website Question/Comment input form.
